DeKalb County Hospice
The mission of DeKalb County Hospice is to assist people to live with dignity and hope in ways that best meet their needs while coping with end of life issues. Hospice also supports grieving family and community members. Donations are an important source of revenue for bereavement services and care when clients are uninsured or under insured.
Annual donations are accepted for operating expenses, program needs, and therapy programs, such as Music Therapy, Bereavement and Transitions Programs. These programs provide many services including counseling, stress relief, support groups, special events, educational programs, case management and supportive visits for Hospice patients, caregivers, families and the general public. Gifts to Hospice may be made in honor or memory of friends or loved ones.

On Friday, August 13, 2010 golfers both professional and amateur will be swinging their clubs in support of DeKalb County Hospice as the 13th Annual MUM Golf Outing will be held at Sycamore Park District Golf Course on Route 64 in Sycamore. Sponsorships and foursomes are available by calling DeKalb County Hospice at 815.756-3000. Since the event began in 1998, $222,500 has been raised to help DeKalb County Hospice provide end-of-life care for DeKalb County area patients and related care for their families and the community. Coordinating the event each year is LPGA teaching professional Sandy Underwood and Mary Underwood Curran.
MUM is held in memory of their mother Midge and father Miles, both golfers who introduced Sandy and Mary to the sport of golf. A Hospice patient, Midge died of cancer in the spring of 1998. Miles, also a Hospice patient, died in late 2008.
